Bioluminescence

[FR] J'ai eu la chance d'observer le phénomène de Bioluminescence de Pyrocystis noctiluca (un plancton de la famille des Dinoflagellés). Ces petits êtres marins ont la capacité d'émettre une vive lumière bleue lorsque l'on agite leur milieu. Dans la nature, cette capacité leur permet d'illuminer leur prédateur (quand il approche d'eux) la nuit; ce qui rend ce prédateur visible et donc vulnérable à ses propres prédateurs !
J'ai pu observer ceci dans le Laboratoire de l'île de Tatihou, en Normandie.

[EN] I had the chance to see the phenomena of Pyrocystis noctiluca Bioluminescence (Pyrocystis noctiluca is a marine species of plankton). This little animals have the ability to create a bright blue light when you shake their environment. In the nature, this ability allows them to illuminate their predator (when he approaches them) at night; what makes this predator visible and therefore vulnerable to its own predators!
I have observed this in the laboratory Tatihou Island, Normandy (France).
